A daily update is a period of time during which the software on your device is scanned for new files to download. These files are necessary to keep your device operating at peak performance and ensure that any security threats are spotted quickly.
Many teams hold a regular daily update meeting to discuss current projects and to review past work. Typically, these meetings are conducted asynchronously because synchronous meetings can be difficult to schedule and may disrupt teammates mid-task. Moreover, asynchronous daily updates allow teammates to answer the questions at a convenient time for them (rather than being forced to attend at a set, centralized time).
When configured to recur, Geekbot’s daily updates are sent out to teammates via their preferred communication channel and are based on each teammate’s local timezone. This allows teammates to receive the daily update questions at a time that is not disruptive or inconvenient for them, and also prevents other team members from receiving the same question too often.
To enable daily updates, go to the Actions console and click Develop in the top menu. Select Intents in the left menu and add a daily update subscription flow to your Action. For example, you can create an Intent called “Geekbot daily update” that reoccurs every weekday at 10:00 a.m.
When users invoke your daily update Action, they should receive a notification on their device that contains a prompt to register for the intent. This prompt should be provided either at the beginning of the conversation or, if your Action is a one-off, at the end of the conversation.
